Gluten Free Yorkshire Pudding

February 12, 2021Leave a comment

Yorkshire Pudding was always the best side dish to a roast beef. Nobody could make them better than my Mum. To this day I have never seen them puff up so high with that light crispy bowl to hold all the gravy. Just a batter of eggs, flour, and milk that are so quick and … Continue reading Gluten Free Yorkshire Pudding

Doug’s French Onion Soup

January 17, 2021January 17, 2021Leave a comment

Homemade soups are one of my favourite meals and this one has been enjoyed in our house for years. It’s a recipe that came with my husband and they have both stayed!! Since being diagnosed with celiac disease this soup has not been as good, because the bread would just dissolve into mush. Until ... … Continue reading Doug’s French Onion Soup

Vanilla Crisps

December 19, 2020December 19, 20201 Comment

Sweet, crispy and slightly chewy Vanilla Crisps are an old family favourite ... going back to my childhood. These have been modified from my Mum’s original recipe to make them gluten free. Mix these vanilla cookies up at any time for a quick, sweet snack that is ready in a speedy, half hour. No thinking … Continue reading Vanilla Crisps

Zucchini Patties – GF

August 14, 2020Leave a comment

I grew up saying courgettes, but these days it seems to be zucchini. I guess it depends where on the globe you live. Either way they are the most versatile veggie in my garden. Pick your zucchini when they are a medium size. The bigger, older ones have too much moisture content and not enough … Continue reading Zucchini Patties – GF

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie – GF

June 26, 2020June 28, 2020Leave a comment

Pick your rhubarb stalks or buy them fresh. Remove the leaves, rinse and slice ... easy as pie! There have been about four versions of this pie in the past month, because it’s so good! Including a vegan version, replacing the butter with olive oil and using more flax seed instead of the egg, but … Continue reading Strawberry Rhubarb Pie – GF

Strawberry Muffins GF

Spring and early summer is my favourite time of year. It’s berry good with all the fresh fruits and veggies from the garden. Sunny days, good food, a little wine .... ahh! These muffins are so quick and easy to make and with little bits of strawberries inside. They are not too sweet ... but … Continue reading Strawberry Muffins GF

Stephanie’s Sourdough Crackers

May 3, 2020May 3, 202010 Comments

Everybody is making sourdough these days, myself included. I have actually been making sourdough for the last few years and appreciate the process of making , baking  … AND eating it. But then there is all this discard sitting in a jar in the fridge. I have to admit I do not like the discard … Continue reading Stephanie’s Sourdough Crackers

Chocolate Date Cookies GF

March 28, 2020April 7, 20202 Comments

You need these for your chocolate fix. I love good rich chocolate flavours and these are so light and airy, for being gluten free. If you prefer them a little more sweet you could add some chocolate icing to the tops of them. I prefer them less sweet and with the combination of the chocolate … Continue reading Chocolate Date Cookies GF

Jalapeño Cheese Biscuits (GF)

March 7, 2020March 8, 2020Leave a comment

These savoury bites of pickled jalapeños, cheese and bacon are so addicting. Anything that resembles a cheesy scone or biscuit ... I just love for a snack on their own or with a good bowl of soup. They are definitely a little spicy but that combines well with the cheese. No one would guess that … Continue reading Jalapeño Cheese Biscuits (GF)

Lemon Cheesecake (GF)

March 5, 2020Leave a comment

Childhood birthday memories. We always had a choice for a birthday meal the whole time I was growing up. For dessert I usually chose this lemon cheesecake for my Mum to make. It’s still one of my favourites to this day and the base was so easy to convert to gluten free along with the … Continue reading Lemon Cheesecake (GF)

Just a few simple ingredients in these gluten free baguettes: 4 gluten free flours, water, salt, some active starter and a particular method.
Happy birthday to Finn! I can’t believe he is one today!
Sharing this amazing cardigan that @sammythomp and @jardines_domaine have collaborated on. It was hard to choose my favourite piece to share, because I love all of the clothing being launched tomorrow in this collaboration.
Those colours from that gluten-free bread the other day and such an amazing flavour! I think I will try a little more stencil art with my dough. Usually I just score with my @breadllamas tool because you can use the blade so precisely. It’s great for intricate detail. Have you tried the stencil art on your bread before. And the food colouring from @suncorefoods is so vibrant.
What techniques do you use to change the crust of your sourdough? And do you prefer a softer, thinner and lightly tanned loaf ... or do you go for the crispy, thick and darker crust?
Sunset last night from my home area. Video courtesy of my brother @danielbarry705 Just enough coastline to make me homesick, but such a pleasing view. How I miss the sight, sound and smell of the sea. Truly one of those things in this world that makes me happy and it calls me home every time. The sea and my family.
